Jirou Ayase

Jirou Ayase is the 21-year-old protagonist of the story, a professional NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) from Japan who is suddenly transported to a different world through an antique mirror.

Overview

"Money is a means, not an end. You should use it boldly when needed."

Jirou Ayase is the protagonist of the series, a 21-year-old from Japan who discovers a magical mirror linking his world to a fantasy realm. Suddenly placed in unfamiliar surroundings, he uses practical knowledge and creativity to build a new life. Over time, he grows from a modest street vendor into an emerging entrepreneur, property owner, and leader of a small but growing organization. His experiences—including confronting danger during travel—have encouraged him to train in self-protection. As he expands his business, establishes a knight order, and adapts to the customs of the new world, Jirou’s life becomes increasingly layered and demanding.

Appearance

Jirou is a young Japanese man with a somewhat youthful appearance, often described as “neat” or "childlike." Upon first arriving in the other world, he wears a set of ornate, old-fashioned clothes found through the mirror—such as a frilled silk shirt and an embroidered vest—which give him a distinctive look. For formal occasions, he switches to attire resembling aristocratic fashion. He typically carries a bag containing self-crafted tools and modern supplies.

Personality

Jirou’s primary goal is to create a comfortable, stable life. Initially uncertain and overly cautious, he quickly develops a keen sense for business and negotiation. He is observant, analytical, and capable of bold action when necessary.

Though often nervous in unfamiliar situations, he demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and a willingness to adapt. He has a strong curiosity toward the customs, tools, and systems of the new world. A recurring comedic trait is his admiration for elves and other fantasy races, which often leads him into humorous misunderstandings.

Overall, he balances practicality with growing empathy, especially as he forms new relationships.

History

Before his journey, Jirou lived quietly in Japan and earned modest income through online reselling. After discovering the mysterious mirror in a cellar and purchasing it, he learned it was a portal to another world.

His cautious exploration led to his first encounter with the hunter Shello Roth and his daughter Rebecca, who provided shelter and guidance. With their help, he received the world’s "Blessing," revealing an unusually high number of abilities and a rare inherent job—marking him as someone with exceptional potential.

Skills & Abilities

Inherent Job - Wise man of the other world (The Library)

His unique skills remain his foundation.

<The Journey> Trip to Another World: The core of his existence, used daily for trade and rest.

<The Principle> Principle of Universe: Used to analyze the black rock salt during his scam.

<The Judgement> The Mirror of Truth: Constantly used to appraise goods, people, and situations, such as confirming the lace had no magical properties.

Multiple Vocations

His eight vocations continue to grant him accelerated learning.

Merchant & Swindler: These vocations are now highly developed. He successfully runs a profitable stall, manages international trade, and executed a complex scam to bankrupt a rival fraudulent merchant. He is planning business expansion.

Swordsman: His skills have been honed through relentless training with Shello-san and real combat experience against bandits. He is now confident enough to face common monsters like skeletons.

Magician: While not a focus in recent chapters, his affinity for magic remains.

Combat Prowess: No longer a complete novice, Jirou can hold his own in a fight. He successfully defeated a skeleton in solo combat, demonstrating an understanding of monster mechanics, such as disarming them and targeting their magic core.

Tactical Deception: He has shown a remarkable talent for elaborate cons and social engineering, as demonstrated by "Operation WAKKADANNA," where he posed as a drunken young master to trick a shop owner into selling his entire stock of lace.

Guidance of Baraka: He continues to receive and complete guidances.

EQUIPMENT & POSSESSIONS

The Mirror: His vital link between worlds, now more crucial than ever for his business and personal life.

Jet-Black Heart of Blood Magic Sword: His primary weapon, always carried during travel and training.

Self-Defense Items from Japan

Crossbow: A compact, one-handed model intended for Diana as a surprise ranged weapon.

Polycarbonate Riot Shields: Lightweight, transparent shields for Diana, offering protection against projectiles.

Tear Gas & Stun Gun: Previously given to Diana for personal defense.

Lace Collection: A large quantity of lace handkerchiefs and decorative lace obtained through his scam. While initially intended for sale in Japan, they have become valuable social tokens in the other world due to their cultural significance.

Digital Camera & Amplifier: Used for documentation, surveillance, and taking commemorative photos, such as the first group photo of his Knight Squad.

Real Estate Magazine & Car Listing: Signs of his plans to achieve independence in Japan by moving out of his parents' house, indicating his long-term strategy to secure a better base of operations for his cross-world activities.

Spirit Stones: After using one to heal Aurica, he possesses a lapis lazuli and an obsidian spirit stone. He also obtained a small, low-value black magic crystal from the skeleton he defeated.

Gold & Japanese Yen: His financial assets are growing steadily from his auctions and store, allowing him to fund his knight squad ambitions and consider major purchases in both worlds.

Relationships

Priestess

A respected figure at the Temple of Le Baraka. Jirou appreciates her support and the positive reputation she has helped build around his store. He intends to return to the temple to ask about newly revealed guidance.

Diana Luna'Abella

A High Elf princess who is bound to Jirou through a formal spirit contract connected to her “Special Guidance.” Their relationship is complicated. Although the contract places most responsibilities on Jirou, he gradually develops a stronger sense of duty and care toward her. Diana’s confident and expressive personality often leaves him flustered, especially when she speaks in grand, romantic terms. He relies heavily on her deep knowledge of spirits and the world’s traditions.

Marina

A member of the marginalized Turk tribe who works for Jirou as his escort and helper. Jirou treats Marina with patience and kindness, and she, in turn, is deeply appreciative of his support. He finds her gentle nature and shy demeanor endearing and is determined to help her grow more confident. His tendency to dote on her sometimes leads to playful rivalry with Diana.

Shello Roth

Originally Jirou’s rescuer and benefactor. Jirou views Shello as a dependable, if somewhat straightforward, father figure and remains deeply grateful for his support. Although Jirou was initially surprised to learn that Shello’s assistance was guided by a "Guidance" quest, their relationship has since grown into one of mutual respect and familiarity.

Rebecca Roth

His main guide and protector in the new world. Jirou respects Rebecca greatly, relying on her for knowledge, safety, and steady emotional support. He gave her a garnet ring as a gesture of gratitude, and their interactions often carry a warm, playful tone. Their closeness occasionally leads to lighthearted misunderstandings, especially during moments of relaxed conversation.

Aurica Flaireim

A 17-year-old maid under Jirou’s care. He organized her birthday celebration and gave her clothes and a lace handkerchief, unaware of the meaning attached to such gifts. Aurica values his kindness greatly.

Etowa Waz

Etowa has proven highly capable and independent. Jirou is impressed by her skills and is considering her for leadership roles in future business expansion. A reward he gave her was also misinterpreted due to the same cultural misunderstanding.

Elepipi

A 17-year-old actress with a Knight vocation. She assisted Jirou in an important operation and was later hired as a part-time clerk. Excited by the Knights of Artemis’s mission, she pledged her loyalty to Diana. Jirou sees her acting skills as useful for negotiations and public relations.

Efta Solo

A rival and influential Imperial Trader. Their relationship began with a competitive wager over a rare elven companion. Jirou regards Efta with a mix of caution and respect, recognizing both his sharp intellect and his influence. Jirou now depends on Efta’s cooperation for matters related to Diana’s guidance—something he takes advantage of whenever possible.

Hetty

Efta’s representative, formerly a respected mercenary leader known as “Farley’s Battle Maiden,” now managing household affairs for the Solo family. Jirou views her as poised, competent, and somewhat intimidating. She oversees the renovation of his mansion and serves as a trustworthy point of contact. She also happens to be an old acquaintance of Rebecca.
