Henrietta Solo

Henrietta (Alias: Hetty) is the elegant, silver-haired woman who serves as Efta Solo's representative. She is not a simple maid, but Efta's half-sister and a wealthy daughter of the Solo family, who harbors a deep antagonism toward their shared father.

Overview

Henrietta Solo, commonly known as Hetty, is a central character first introduced as a maid representing the House of Solo. She is later revealed to be the half-sister of Efta Solo. Formerly a renowned mercenary leader known as “Farley’s Battle Maiden,” she acts with her own sense of justice—shaped by a complicated family background and a strong desire for independence. Over time, she becomes an unconventional yet genuine supporter of Jirou Ayase.

Appearance

Hetty is a striking woman with elegant, wavy silver hair, a feature she shares with her half-brother. She typically wears a classic maid uniform: a black one-piece dress with a white apron, headdress, and a silver neckerchief. Despite the simplicity of the attire, she carries herself with a noble composure that reflects her upbringing.

Personality

Hetty is perceptive, clever, and highly self-reliant. She maintains a calm and poised demeanor, often displaying a playful confidence when her plans unfold successfully. Much of her early motivation stems from a long-standing conflict with her father, which led her to leave home and build her own mercenary group.

Beneath her tough and pragmatic exterior, she has a warm side. She admits she chose to help Jirou and Diana simply because she found them “endearing.” Although resourceful, she is known for less-than-perfect financial habits, often overspending on causes she personally believes in—such as renovating Jirou’s mansion or acquiring horses. She is not afraid to use bold or strategic measures to protect the people she supports, all guided by her unique moral compass.

History

Born into the influential Solo merchant family, Hetty is Efta Solo’s half-sister. Seeking freedom from her father’s authority, she left home and founded a respected mercenary group, eventually earning the title “Farley’s Battle Maiden.” Her father later attempted to arrange a political marriage for her in the Country of Fire—a plan she ultimately avoided.

After hearing about Diana’s “Special Guidance,” she traveled to Erishe intending to interfere out of defiance toward her father. She intercepted the family agent, Mildas, and took his place by posing as a maid to observe Jirou firsthand. However, after meeting Diana privately and witnessing Jirou’s sincerity, she reconsidered her intentions and chose to genuinely support them. Since then, she has financed mansion repairs, supplied equipment, and taken on the role of Jirou’s primary liaison to the Solo family.

Skills & Abilities

Masterful Deception & Infiltration

Successfully posed as a maid and representative for weeks without raising Jirou's suspicion about her true identity or motives.

Keen Intuition

Able to deduce the secret nature of Diana's guidance simply from a conversation, a feat that shocked Diana herself.

Logistics & Management

Efficiently managed the large-scale renovation of Jirou's mansion and the acquisition of high-quality horses.

Former Mercenary Leader

As the former "Farley's Battle Maiden," she was a highly capable combatant and tactician, commanding her own group. This past gives her a sharp eye for strategy and potential dangers.

Financial Independence

Possesses significant personal wealth, which she uses freely to fund her chosen projects, despite her admitted "sloppy budget management."

Relationships

Efta Solo

Her half-brother, whom she affectionately calls "Taa-kun," much to his chagrin. Their relationship is a mix of familial affection and exasperation. Efta is clearly fond of her but is often flustered by her unpredictable and rebellious actions. Their reunion in Erishe was a surprise to him, revealing the true extent of her machinations.

The Solo Patriarch (Unnamed)

Her father, whom she despises. Her entire initial motive revolves around interfering with his plans, making him her primary antagonist.

Rebecca Roth

An old friend from her mercenary days. Rebecca was a spy who infiltrated Hetty's group, but they developed a genuine friendship that has lasted years. They share a comfortable, teasing rapport and often work together to help Jirou.

Jirou Ayase

She initially approached him under false pretenses to sabotage his role in Diana's guidance. After getting to know him, she found him "cute" and became a genuine, if somewhat teasing, ally and benefactor. She provides him with shrewd advice, manages his major acquisitions, and openly champions his cause against her own family's more manipulative members.

Diana Luna'Arbella

The linchpin of her change of heart. Their secret conversation convinced Hetty to abandon her plan of interference and instead offer her full support. She now acts as a powerful ally for Diana within the complicated Solo family dynamic.

Dida Balbacro

Her uncle and the commander-in-chief of the Balbacro Trading Company. Hetty is "instinctively incompatible" with him and will openly flee upon his arrival, showing a rare display of avoidance towards a family member.

Quotations

"-Having a Vocation doesn't necessarily mean you can fight in actual combat. Whether or not you can step onto a real battlefield and return alive—that is when your aptitude as a warrior is truly questioned in the truest sense. Even in the mercenary group I led, many died because they lacked that aptitude. Even those blessed with great Vocations."
