Bronze mirrors first appeared in China around 2000 BCE and were widely used until about the 10th century CE, while in Japan they were introduced in the 3rd century CE and remained important for rituals and ceremonies until the 12th century CE. Today, they are still made by artisans as decorative or ceremonial objects, rather than for everyday use.
