Marco Pivot

(No Illustration)

Marco Pivot is a minor but pivotal character in the Lucraella arc, a young boy living in the slums of the Cayantau Mine. Introduced as a street hustler trying to sell "rare" ore, he is later revealed to be a skilled gold panner and the sole caregiver for his disabled younger sister. His desperate situation during the monster outbreak becomes the catalyst for the Artemis Knight Order's first true rescue mission, transforming their role from monster hunters to protectors.

APPEARANCE

Marco is a young teenage boy with a sturdy, tanned build hardened by labor. When first seen tailing Jirou's group, he wears ragged, light clothing unsuitable for the cold. The next day, he presents himself in his "best" outfit for business: a peppermint-green shirt with rolled sleeves, indigo-dyed trousers, a milky-white linen waist-wrap, and worn leather shoes, with his hair slicked back with Laira oil. His appearance shifts from a ragged street urchin to a boy desperately trying to look professional.

Personality

Marco is a complex mix of street-smart survivor and devoted brother. He is entrepreneurial and cunning, crafting an elaborate story to sell worthless "Shiro" ore to unsuspecting travelers. However, this hustle is born out of necessity to support his sister, Lyn. He is fiercely protective and loving toward her, his panic when she is trapped in the monster-infested mine revealing his true priority. He is brave to the point of recklessness, charging into danger alone to save her. While initially a scammer, he is not malicious; he is visibly ashamed when Jirou—the man he tried to swindle—returns to save his life. He wears his emotions openly, making him a poor liar but an earnest and sympathetic figure.

History

Marco is a contracted gold panner for the Lucraella Guild, panning for gold dust in the Luk River. The byproduct of his work is "Shiro" (Reshia Metal), a dense white metal considered worthless and a nuisance to separate. To supplement his income, he collects the discarded Shiro and sells it to travelers with a fabricated story about it being a "rare white metal" from a secret mine shaft. He lives with his younger sister, Lyn, who has disabled legs, in a stone hut within the Cayantau Mine slum, acting as her sole provider and protector.

Relationships

Lyn Pivot: His younger sister, who cannot walk. She is his entire world and the reason for all his efforts. Their bond is the catalyst for the story's events in Cayantau Mine.

Jirou Ayase: Initially a mark for Marco's souvenir scam. Jirou sees through the story but buys the ore anyway, intrigued by its true rarity. Marco is stunned when Jirou later risks his life to save Lyn, creating a debt of gratitude.
