Most eroge are visual novels, focusing on narrative, character routes, and player choices, often combined with romance or adult themes. While the erotic elements are a defining feature, many eroge are also known for complex plots, emotional storytelling, and distinctive art styles, and some titles later receive all-ages versions with adult content removed.
